When I think scotch – I want a rich complex bouquet of flavors that I can sip neat, with a splash, or a few rocks.
The arsenal of top shelf winners are this one, the Royal Salute 21 YO by Chivas, and perhaps the Dewars double-double 27 YO.
But these Dewar Double-Doubles should be called “half-halves”. The 375 ml diamond-shaped bottles are just too little for too much. It’s damn good scotch, but in a half-bottle, at twice the price – I just can’t do it.
The Royal Salute may be pricey too – but at least its in a 750ml bottle, and it is also great to drink and baby hiny smooth.
