The Macallan Edition No.5 is the latest release in this innovative annual Series. In this release The Macallan distillery have focused on their commitment to the natural colour of the whisky. The Macallan edition 5 continues on from the Editions one and two which were cask focused, Edition three explored the natural aromas and number four focused on the structure of the whisky.
Teaming up with Pantone Colour Institute in New Jersey they have created a ‘unique bold shade of purple’ on the label.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Real Autumn aromas here of poached apples and pears, there’s toffee sweetness and some herbal notes but clean and slightly citrusy.
Palate: Toasted walnuts and hazelnuts, chestnuts coated in honey and heated. More of the apples and pears but fresh now and some cracked black pepper.
Finish: Butter and toffee combined, polished oak and more citrus.
